If you are new to the game, normally you will have the latest game client at hand. But we constantly update our game and this is the guide to patch your game client to the latest version.

There are two methods to update your game client to the latest version.

1. Auto-patch

The game client has the auto-patch function, that means when there is a new patch, it will automatically download the patch and extract itself and update your game client. The bar in the bottom will turn green when updating is running while you are unable to click Play button.

Note: For Vista users, please turn off UAC(User Account Control) and allow ChaosOnline.exe and main.exe go through firewall. For more details, please read this article: Disable UAC in Windows Vista.

Once the patch is completed, the Play button will turn yellow and clickable. Just click it and log in the game.

2. Manual Patch

If you are unable to do the auto-patch, you need to download manual patch from official website. Please follow the following steps:

A. Check your game client version and find the correct manual patch to download.

Q: How to find the game client version?

A: 1. Open the installation folder and find a file named: patch.dat.

2. Open the patch.dat with Notepad and check the game version.

As you can see from the picture above, the “subversion=0.80650219” is the game version.

B. After you picking the correct version of the patch, please put the patch in your installation folder and run it.

C. After you manually installed all the patch, you can find the play button in clickable and you can log into the game now.
